By default, Windows Vista's file settings are opened
with "normal user" settings despite the fact that you
may be the system administrator. In order to give
yourself permission to edit and save these files, follow
the instructions outlined below:
- Go
to Start
- In
the Search box, type: explorer
-
Right click "Windows Explorer"
-
Select "Run As Administrator"
Every setting change within Windows Explorer at this
point will be given full Administrator permissions.
-
Find the folder that contains the file or files
that you wish to edit.
-
Right click the folder.
-
Select Properties.
-
Click the Security tab.
-
Select Edit>> Add
-
If
you are the sole administrator and do not wish
to let others modify these files, type your user
name and press Enter. Or, just type: "Users" and
then press Enter.
-
Place a checkmark next to the entry titled:
"Allow Full Control"
-
Click OK, then OK once again.
