Steve Ball, group program manager with Microsoft hired the legendary guitarist, Robert Fripp. Fripp worked with the Windows Audio Video Excellence team to come up with sounds for Windows Vista.

The last time Microsoft used a famous musician to help with their sound scheme, they used Brian Eno, a brilliant British keyboardist to produce the sounds for Windows 95.
